NEW BRUNSWICK - The New Jersey State Bar Association filed an amicus brief to the New Jersey State Supreme Court where it argued permitting lawyers to purchase a competitor lawyer's name as a keyword in an Internet search "condones gamesmanship over professionalism."
The NJSBA seeks review of ACPE Opinion 735 on whether it violates the Rules of Professional Conduct for a lawyer or firm to purchase the online keyword ads of a competitor or their firm in order to display the lawyer’s own information during consumer Internet searches.
