Lamparello serves as President of State Bar Association

NEW BRUNSWICK- Ralph J. Lamparello took the oath of office as the 115th president of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the state’s largest organization of lawyer, judges and legal professionals.

Lamparello was sworn in at an installation held at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City earlier this summer. New Jersey Chief Justice Stuart Rabner administered the oath of office for the one-year term.

Lamparello said he was humbled to serve as president of the association, and the first from Hudson County in four decades. He is managing partner of Chasan, Leyner & Lamparello PC in Secaucus.

During his tenure as president, Lamparello said he would highlight the importance of a fair and impartial judicial system. As a kick-off to that initiative, Lamprello hosted over 70 judges from every bench in the state to take part in the Annual Meeting and Convention in May, which featured a trio of seminars, as well as a speech by a sitting Supreme Court justice, which examined the issue of access to justice. Additional events will be held throughout the year.

In addition, he plans to honor the contributions New Jersey lawyers make not just to the law, but also to the community.

“My message… is that when people are in distress – they count on a New Jersey lawyer. It’s that when people need help – they can count on a New Jersey lawyer. When people are down – they can count on a New Jersey lawyer to help pick them up,” said Lamparello.

Lamparello will also continue to serve as a trustee for the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, the NJSBA’s charitable and educational arm.

A member of the NJSBA since 1989, Lamparello is a former chair of the association’s Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointments Committee and the Meeting Arrangements and Program Committee. He serves as chair of the foundation’s Law Center Committee and is a former chair of its Investment Committee.

A past president of the Hudson County Bar Association, he is also a trustee of the Association of the Federal Bar of the State of New Jersey, and is a member of the American Bar Association, the Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys of New Jersey, Association of Trial Lawyers of America – New Jersey, the Hispanic Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the New Jersey State League of Municipalities-New Jersey Institute of Local Government. He is also a master of the American Inns of Court – Hudson Inn.

A former New Jersey deputy attorney general in the Division of Criminal Justice, Lamparello was also an assistant prosecutor in Hudson County. At his law firm, he supervises civil and criminal litigation in state and federal court, and serves as trial counsel in all major litigation, including commercial, public entity, corporate, employment discrimination, environmental, medical malpractice, product liability and criminal defense.

A cum laude graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa, Lamparello earned his law degree from St. John’s University School of Law.

He lives with his wife in Warren Township. They have two children.
