ATLANTIC CITY: The former president of the Somerset County Bar Association was sworn in last night as the secretary of the state’s largest association of judges, lawyers and legal professionals.

Jeralyn L. Lawrence is a former trustee of the New Jersey State Bar Association and is on-track to serve as its president in 2022.

Lawrence is a certified matrimonial law attorney and chair of the matrimonial and family law practice at Norris, McLaughlin & Marcus in Bridgewater. Her work includes handling divorce litigation; mediation and arbitration; custody and parenting time issues; alimony and child support; and separation, adoption and domestic partnership matters. She has been a vocal advocate on behalf of the benefits of collaborative law.

Her involvement with the NJSBA is extensive.

In addition to serving as a former trustee, she is a past chair of the association’s Family Law Section, a senior editor of New Jersey Family Lawyer and is a co-chair of its Legislative Committee. She is also secretary of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, has lectured extensively at the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, and is the political action chair and trustee of Women’s Political Caucus of New Jersey.

“The NJSBA means a great deal to me. Since day one of my professional career, I have been able to witness, first hand, the importance of relationship building with my fellow members of the bar who share my vision and passion for the law. I believe it is a true privilege to be affiliated with such an active, vibrant and tireless bar association, and there is no doubt my gratitude will be expressed in my continued commitment and dedication in serving the bar as secretary,” she said.

She lives in Watchung with her husband, John, their three children, Abigail, Lawson and Amelia, and two step-children, Kyle and Carson.
