Continuing Legal Education

Keeping abreast of updates and trends in the law is critical to the success of all attorneys, and the New Jersey State Bar Association is dedicated to providing opportunities for members and the entire legal community. The Association is uniquely suited to help lawyers and judges licensed in New Jersey to meet their mandatory continuing legal education requirements.
Since January 1, 2010, all lawyers holding a license to practice law in the State of New Jersey, whether plenary or limited, are required to participate in the mandatory continuing legal education program set forth in Rule 1:42, entitled “Continuing Legal Education.” Click here to find out more about the requirements from the New Jersey Supreme Court's Board on Continuing Legal Education.

The New Jersey State Bar Association's sections and committees regularly create programming and seminars for members at business meetings and special seminars. These gatherings offer lawyers an opportunity to learn about developments in their practice area, as well as network with their colleagues at a reasonable price and convenient times. The New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, a division of the Association, provides more than 275 live and online seminars annually throughout the State, offers audio/video CLE packages, online video CLE, develops software programs specifically designed for the practicing attorney and publishes comprehensive treatises and lecture handbooks.
