The Minorities in the Profession Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association is pleased to announce its annual BLACK HISTORY MONTH CONTEST for New Jersey high school students. This is an opportunity for students to showcase their knowledge and to encourage excellence in writing. We also aim to keep an open dialogue to educate our youth about the importance of Black History through this program.
To participate, New Jersey high school students were asked to read the 2023 Essay Topic and submit an essay (1500 words or less) answering these questions:
The 2023 midterm elections saw a significant increase in participation among young voters.
A. What is the significance of the high number of young voters in the 2022 midterm elections?
B. How does the increased number of young voters reshape the political climate?
All essays must be received by midnight January 31.
All submissions become the property of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
The student must complete the official online entry form, which includes a stipulation that the essay is the student’s original work and has not been published elsewhere.
Entries must be submitted by the student through the official Essay Contest Submission website. (Click here to submit an essay.
Duplicate entries are not allowed. 
Each submission will be confirmed by email using the address supplied.
Essay finalists and runners-up will have the opportunity to compete in a trivia contest on February 28.

February 22 Selected students must confirm attendance for Award Reception
