NEW BRUNSWICK: The New Jersey State Bar Association will kick off a two‐month effort to raise money to fight hunger. The fundraising campaign, called Lawyers Feeding New Jersey, will start Oct. 1.
“We are facing a real crisis in this state. In New Jersey, 1.2 million people are confronting hunger, including 400,000 children; kids, who don’t always know where or when they will have their next meal. This is heartbreaking and unacceptable. No one should be hungry,” said NJSBA President Paris P. Eliades.
Lawyers Feeding New Jersey calls on the association’s 18,000 members, their friends, colleagues and coworkers, and everyone else in the legal community to do something about this emergency.
All proceeds will benefit Community FoodBank of New Jersey, which is the state’s leading organization to address hunger. It works with food banks and affiliates in each of the state’s 21 counties.
“Our goal is to donate as many meals as possible to those who find themselves in less‐fortunate circumstances. Let’s work together to fight hunger in New Jersey,” said Eliades.
The way Lawyers Feeding New Jersey works is simple: Anyone can donate. Lawyers, judges, court staff, law office professionals and anyone else can help fight hunger through donations. For every $1 that is donated, Community FoodBank of New Jersey is able to provide five meals to those in need.
People are also invited to enter a friendly competition and join or form a fundraising team that will bring groups together with the goal of pushing donations even higher. To learn more, visit njsba.com.
