The New Jersey State Bar Association’s Nominating Committee will conduct interviews of candidates seeking leadership positions this month and for the first time members can watch.
Providing members access to watch the interviews was made possible by a recent change to the association’s bylaws, which were approved by an overwhelming majority of the membership and meant to create greater transparency and openness in the selection of future leaders.
The interviews will be conducted at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick on Jan. 20 and 22. Candidates will be scheduled throughout the day.
A simulcast of the Nominating Committee’s discussion with the candidates will be aired at the Law Center. The committee’s deliberations are confidential, according to the association’s policy and procedures manual, and will not be made available for viewing.
A list of candidates and the questionnaires each completed is available at njsba.com in the "Members" section (login is required.) In addition to the simulcast interviews, videos of each will be posted online following the interviews.
