About The Program:

This program will present a lively and interactive opportunity to learn from respected federal judges and practitioners as they examine the ins and outs of handling a matter pro bono in federal court. While the program focuses and, we hope, encourages pro bono service, everyone who litigates in federal court will leave with take-aways that they will immediately be able to use in their practices.

The morning will begin with a background on pro bono representation in federal court - the types of matters assigned, how the matters are vetted prior to assignment and the essential rules and procedures for handling these matters.

Next, a panel of experts will conduct a compelling discussion on the anatomy of handling a pro bono case, as well as how to engage in settlement discussions while representing a client pro bono. Federal judges will also discuss the re-entry program at each of the Court's vicinages, how the program is giving those who paid their debt to society a second chance, and how you can help.

And, lastly, the Program will examine the ethics and professionalism in handling a pro bono matter, as well as participating in the re-entry program.

You won't want to miss this compelling presentation.
